Famous Amputees

There are many famous "people" who are affected by amputation. Rather than try to write about too many of them, this site will deal with just four. First there is a professional athlete, Jim Abbott, second, a teenage athlete, Bethany Hamilton, third, a model/celebrity, Heather Mills, and fourth, a well-known Disney character, Nemo.

By reading about the experiences of these different amputees, there is perspective from various points of view. Nemo was chosen because so many people have seen and loved this movie, but may not have considered it to be a story of an amputee.

The common thread to these four stories is the positive attitude that has allowed all four to be successful and to motivate others with disabilities.
