About
Sam
Hey! I’m
Sam. I am a freshman at Lakeland High School. I’m fourteen years
old and love to work with Megan, Michele and Mrs. Brandon on ThinkQuest.
I am very outgoing and love to meet new people. My background is very
diverse. With my father being from the Philippines, and my mother
being
both Irish and French, it makes me want to travel all over the world
to see where my family comes from.
My favorite thing to do is run. I run cross-country in the fall and during
both winter and spring participate in track for my school. It’s
a great way to meet new people and become active in your school. I also
love to dance. Although I don’t dance at the same dance school as
Megan and Michelle, I take several classes and I enjoy hip-hop the most.
It is also a great way to be physically active and to express yourself.
I also play the violin for my school, and piano outside of school. I started
violin when I was in fifth grade and have been playing ever since. It's
great to be in a high school orchestra because it’s so big, and
we all work together to make a wonderfully sounding piece. I also enjoy
being in symphony orchestra. We all work hard to raise money to go on
field trips where we can compete against other orchestras. Collaborating
for a single goal and making strides every day makes me feel great. I
have also been playing piano for eight years. I have been taking lessons
and love to play classical and modern pieces. I love listening to music
in general as well. There is always a song to fit my mood, and I would
have to say that my favorite artist is John Mayer. I have been to several
of his concerts, and enjoy his work.
This website is not the first I have worked on. I have worked with Megan
on “Why
Waste Time Watching Television” and “Broadway
Inside-Out”. We are proud of those sites and they were finalists
in the competition. Prior to that we also completed "Sports
Clothing" for ThinkQuest. This website has been so fun to work
on. Megan is a wonderful friend of mine, and learning about people who
have ABS or have amputations has opened my eyes. Not only have I been
able to contribute to the website, but I have learned so much from it.
ThinkQuest is a great way to contribute to a topic that you feel should
be expressed more and is an excellent way to learn more about how to use
computers complete research. It has been a great experience for me and
I am so glad I am part of this team.
