About Megan
My team and I chose this topic because I can personally relate to it. I was born as a below-the-elbow amputee caused by Amniotic Band Syndrome, or ABS. I wanted to learn more about amputations and when our team was brainstorming topic, I suggested this one. By creating this website, I hope that others will be able to learn more about amputations and become more educated on the topic. Being that this topic is very personal, it has made this website extremely important to me. Aside from working on ThinkQuest competitions, I enjoy many things. My favorite thing to do is dance. I take ballet and jazz and have class three times a week. I also play the violin, as shown in the movie. I’m a part of the Anti-Defamation League's "A World of Difference Institute" at my school. Horizons, our in-school program that was started through the "World of Difference" training, helps teach people not to be prejudiced and discriminatory. I try to get involved in my school's activities that aim to make the world a better place. This
website never would have been created without the support of my team’s
amazing coach, Mrs. Brandon. I have learned many new things from her,
along with being exposed to new programs. I’ve had the opportunity
to work on an Apple MacBook for the first time to create a podcast, along
other things. Her dedication and support has helped produce this website. |
