Introduction
Having a physical disability such as Amniotic Band Syndrome is often seen as a negative situation. People rarely see that there are advantages to having one hand. Having a disability is difficult, of course, but being optimistic allows a person to cope successfully and lead a full life.

Beauty
For girls, having one hand proves to be less expensive in some ways. For example, a normal manicure might cost eight dollars. With one hand, only half of the work needs to be done. There is only one hand to moisturize and only five nails to file and paint. Manicures cost half as much as they do for those who have two hands! So, for teenage girls that need to conserve money, half-price manicures (or pedicures) are definitely a good thing.

Character Development
Those with a disability tend not to “ judge a book by its cover.” People with disabilities often have been judged by others. They are used to others looking and acting differently toward them because of the disability. Those who are different are most likely to be open to others who are also different because they can empathize. There are many good people in this world that don’t judge others. Still, one is more likely to be judged by a person who is also unique then one who doesn’t have any physical impairment. Having a physical disability makes people more open to others who also may be different.

Being Memorable
Lastly, most people will remember someone who has a physical disability. When someone sees for the first time a person with one arm, for instance, the person will most likely remember the difference more then they would remember someone who does not look as unique. A person is less likely to be forgotten when he or she has a physical disability.
