Obesity and poverty are very much in the same category. In America, families who live in poverty can only afford things under the budget. Many people in the U.S have low paying jobs that only help their families stay alive financially in this world. This is where the health issue comes in. The little money that the family makes is contributed to having food on the table. Most fast food is extremely cheap today, and the families can only afford things like that. For some poor kids, it is the 99 cent burger every day, and then the obesity cycle begins. Since the families cannot afford the food from the grocery store, they survive on the unhealthy foods from restaurants. If you take a walk in a grocery store, the most expensive food tends to be in the middle, the least expensive foods tend to be around the outside. The foods in the middle are fruits, vegetables, dairy, and the meats. The foods on the outside, chips, soda, ice cream, cake, and others like these. Every day, the healthy food becomes more expensive, the fast food restaurants get cheaper, and the poverty situation gets worse. Half the world is in poverty, that's about 3 billion people who live in extreme conditions in places such as Africa and other undeveloped countries.
