History of the AFC and the NFC |

The NFL was founded in
1922. The professional football league really blew up in the year 1925. |

In 1933 the NFL split into two divisions
the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. |

In 1960 another division
The American Football League (AFL) was formed. The AFL and NFL competed against each
other. |
|
|
In 1970 the
two leagues merged into one league. That league consisted of the National
Football Conference (NFC) and the American Football Conference (AFC). That is what the league consist of today. |
