The Story: When our group first got together we realized that we were all interested in Indian culture. It took us a while to figure out how we could incorporate that into a website. Then we had an idea. First we decided that each of us would create our own fictional character of different ages and become them. That way we could enable someone to learn, but in a fun way wihtout them really realizing. After that decision, we thought about connecting the characters like family. We came up with a fifteen year old, a twenty-one year old, and their mother. They're writing letters back and forth to each other and confiding in our diaries. Don't worry about getting bored while reading this. It's eductucational, entertaining, and way over-the-top dramatic!
Neela (Stacy): I got married and am now living with my husbands family i don't like my husband and i think that it would be a good thing if i hate my mother in law allot because it would give me allot to write about
Me and my sister Alice (Rina) are close friends and i think she is about 15 so Mom(kate) will be looking for a match for her so we could talk about that ALLOT umm.... I don't have a clue about what i should write to mom!
I should also have someone i like in my new husbands family so someone mine or Rina(alice)’s age to gossip with or vent to if their is controversy within my new family so i think alices age so she can remind me of her(alice/Rina)
Rina (Alice): My character's name is Rina. She is 15 years old and has just suffered the loss of her father. Her sister just recently got married, and she is moved out the house, and she misses her very much. She enjoys playing sports with her friends. Her favorites are Archery, Kho-Kho, and Boat Racing. Only during the festivals and special occasions can she have boat races. She goes to school, and she has very good grades, she knows that her getting to go to school is rare and she loves school, so she tries to keep her grades up in hope of continuing. She loves to hang out with her friends, and she helps her mom with everything she needs, even though sometimes she gets a little annoyed by her. She is a nice, caring person, and she loves her family. She will do anything to help them. She is nervous because she is hoping her mother doesn't do the same to her.
Laranya (Kate): My character is a little unsteady right now. She has just gone through the death of her husband and is struggling through the huge social, financial, and emotional problems this has caused for her and her family. Laranya now has to raise, educate, and marry off her youngest daughter, Rina while keeping food on the table, the house clean, and respect from their neighbors.
Laranya has never been on her own before and doesn't know how to deal with this. Because she's so proud she won't accept any charity from family or friends. In her desperation Laranya married her oldest, Neela, to a wealthier family even though Neela strongly disagrees with this.
Currently Laranya is trying to hold on to Rina for just a bit longer, for company and support, but realizes that she must find a husband for her daughter before she gets much older.
