Christianity Christianity has 3 main confessions: Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant, with 2.1 billion adepts, practiced al over the world. It is divided territorially into dioceses, but each confession has a different name for this. A great leader of Christians is the Pope, head of the Catholic Church. Other leaders are the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, the patriarchs from autocephalous churches, The Pope of the Copts etc. It was founded by Jesus of Nazareth, about 2.000 years ago. “Christianity” comes from “Christ”, which is “Messiah” in Aramaic. Its Holy Book is the Bible, which is composed by the Hebrew Torah and the New Testament regarding the life of Jesus Christ -4 little books, written between 65 and 100 A.D. by Mathew, Mark, Luke and John; according to these, Jesus, was born of Mary, a virgin. Adepts regard God as the only leading factor in Universe, unique deity as three persons with the same authority: The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. The Christian temple is known as a church, a place for pray and sin forgiving, where God “touches” people. Mainly, Christianity has monks, priests, bishops, archbishops, patriarchs (Orthodox), cardinals and a Pope (Catholicism). The adepts are divided in two categories: clerics (those who perform rituals) and laics, which follow the clerics. The clerics have the duty to guide the people on the path of God and to teach them the divine laws. They also must have an exemplary life, a moral one, to be an example for others and, so, to spread their message based on love and tolerance. Christianity spreads love, tolerance, intercultural relations, direct contact with your source of life, God. Christians see this telluric life as a suffering one, full of diseases, hate, anger, poverty. They must respect God’s laws, in order to live eternally in Paradise with Him, where no pain, or cry, or suffering exists, just joy, happiness and love. The message of Christ consists in the fact that God means love, that He is Father for all people, and He loves them so much, that He gave His own Son to be crucified only for them, all. Jesus was “sacrificed” and he accepted death because, as the Son of God, he wanted all people to be saved and have eternal life after death. He says “Love the man among you as you love yourself”, such as, He, loved people. God demands a moral life, forgiving of sins, mistakes which are made when they do not respect the divine laws.
