The team is made up of 3 talented girls with different culture background - Alice, Sophia, and Carly. We all grow up in the USA, but our ancestors were from Asia and Europe. One of us is still at 4th grade, and two of us are in 6th grade. The younger member contributes alot despite her age difference, and often gives interesting perspectives. Eastern (Asia) and Western (European) food culture varies in many ways. This kind of mixed culture background gives us many advantages in building this web site. Through working on this project, we expanded our understanding to each other's culture background and tightened our friendship. Each of us has our own talents. Alice is great at drawing cartoons and writing. Sophia is also great at writing besides researching. Carly is most sophisticated at recipes. We split up the jobs and each did our parts. We got together, designed the whole structure of the website, and made it interesting. To find one typical recipe representing a country was challenging and fun. We had to go through alot of debating and discussions within the team and with our classmates, friends, and parents before finalizing a recipe or two for that country. Food culture is such a popular topic which interests everyone, and the team benefits alot from the various cultures in the USA. We (Alice, Sophia, and Carly) constructed the flash movie together. It was a very educational experience for us. You might be thinking, why in the world did they pick the tune “It’s a Small World” to sing? Well, the reason is really simple, we named our website after that song, so we might as well make our theme song in that tune. First, we wrote the lyrics. In the lyrics task, Carly was great at finding the exact words to rhyme. We were lucky that we had Sophia, who is fantastic at playing piano. She played the music to “It’s a Small World”. Alice sang the modified song with Carly. The song-recording process was really exciting. We initially thought it should be easy, just to sing, play the song, and record it. However, later on we found out that there was more to it. We messed up so many times, and got pretty frustrated. After many practices, we finally made it! We had to sing extremely loud to get a crystal clear recording of our song. Next, we made the video of the flash movie. Sophia, Carly and Alice worked together on the video frame planning. When we finally came up with a combination of all of our ideas, Alice made the graphics of Bob, Roxy, Fred and the other things that appeared in the movie. Each of us made a section of the flash movie. Constructing this flash movie was a very interesting experience. More importantly, we learned how to work together as a team to achieve our goals. | ||
