Surfing is one of the few sports that creates its own culture. Its history can be traced back till three and four thousand years ago.
Around 1768 to 1771, Admiralty British and Royal Society ordered Captain James Cook to travel to the South Sea Islands. There, he discovered Tahiti and the amazing sports, surfing. He described surfing in his journal as “I mush say that it is great fun to ride on the waves.”
In the year of 1778, Captain James King of Resolution from England arrived at Hawaii Islands and found people surfing. Again, he was amazed at its fun and excitement.
From then on, many fleets came to Hawaii Islands and watched surfing growing. In 1962, the first International Surfing Competition was held in Manly, Australia. After that, surfing was brought widely to the whole world, till today.
