The Roman-Catholic Church
The building for the first Roman Catholic church was taken from two country manors in 1825 and was consecrated in 1826. Until 1879 it was a wooden building, but during the great fire of 1879, it was destroyed, and a new one was constructed in 1884. The money was given by Catholic Russian parishes. Then in 1896 an organ was ordered from Warsaw. The church was closed in 1921 and in 1938 it housed a news reel studio. The building was reconstructed from 1974 to 1978, and now it houses the organ hall of the Irkutsk Philharmonic Society.
