Governor-General's Residence
The house was built by the famous Irkutsk merchant Sibiryakoff. After the death of the owner of the house, family fortunes declined, and in 1837 it was sold to the exchequer for the residence of governor-generals. The building was a private residence from 1833 until 1917. Later it was the location of the department of law. Since 1839 it has served as the scientific library of Irkutsk State University. The students call it the "White House."
