Our team
Our team is called "Babrs", after the name of a misterious animal represented at the coat of arms of our city. Here we list our opinions about the work, you can also read about the way we worked over the site and watch some photos.
Name: Alex
Age: 18
Come from: Irkutsk
Opinion: I was in charge of taking all photographs, which you could see on our web site. Although it was quite new for me to do such kind of work, I’ve learnt some skills and peculiarities how to take a photographs. It wasn’t an easy job as I had to look for required buildings and appropriate foreshortenings of them. I have also learnt what it is like to work in a group, in a real team. I enjoyed working with my team members, because they have been really devoted to do this project.
Name:Sasha
Age: 18
Come from: Angarsk (a town about 53 kilometers from Irkutsk)
Opinion: I’m keen on information technology and tourism, so that participating in this project gave me an opportunity to combine my interests. I‘ve already had some experience before, but I wasn’t strong in flash, so it was an opportunity to enlarge my knowledge. It’s great that although other members of group were busy with other aspects of the site, they helped me and gave some useful advices. To tell the truth, my level of English is not rather good, so my groupmates helped me to express my ideas in English.
Name: Kate
Age: 19
Come from: Ulan-Ude (a town about 500 kilometers from Irkutsk, in the Buryat Republik)
Opinion: My task was describing modern Irkutsk. Firstly it seemed to me that it wouldn’t be so difficult, because one don’t have to read a variety of books and study old architecture. But on the other hand it turned out to be not so easy. The point is that Irkutsk is not my hometown and though I’d been living here for 2 years, I still didn’t know the city well. Working over the project helped me to get acquainted with Irkutsk.
The most exciting moment was that as I didn’t know much about Itkutsk I had to interview people (mostly students) about the most popular and the most visited places.
The work was rather difficult, but I managed to cope with it thanks to other members of the project, so the collaboration was of a great importance. The most important thing was a support, understanding and just having fun!
Name: Sveta
Age: 18
Come from: Ulan-Ude (a town about 500 kilometers from Irkutsk, in the Buryat Republik)
Opinion: I was dealing with the history of Irkutsk and had to read books to find out the way our city looked 100 years ago. It was very fascinating to write texts about different buildings, I really felt the moving of history. Besides, it was exciting to get acquainted with the city deeper.
I am not much strong in the technical side of site-building, so it made me think of enlarging my knowledge. As for our team, I should say that working together was great. At times we were just laughing and making fun, which stopped the process, of course, but still it was an unforgettable experience.
