Gorgons

The Gorgons were a trio of monsters in Greek mythology. They were sisters who were legendary for their hideous faces, and ancient Greek artists were very fond of drawing the Gorgons as grotesque creatures. And because of their terrifying appearance and abilities, these mythic monsters were the perfect antagonists in many Greek stories. They wereso grotesque, that if anyone looked a Gorgon square in the eye you would be turned into stone.
