welcome
All men, women, and children nowadays use cosmetics and toiletries. However, the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health found that from the 2,983 chemicals used in cosmetics, 884 were known to be toxic. Welcome to Veritas et Venustas--Latin for truth and beauty. Here, you will discover the true nature of cosmetics, learn about safety, regulations, and alternatives, and enjoy fun media. The general society is much too lax and uninformed about this topic, yet it is so crucial. Please enlighten yourself with the information from this site, and possibly, let it change your life.
goal
The goal of this website is to expose the dark side of the cosmetic industry, focusing on the potentially harmful ingredients present in cosmetics, plus expand on what we, the consumers, may do about it. As we are trying to reach out to everybody, we used casual language and occasionally first person, to lighten the dullness of being repeatedly exposed to scientific names. The team, composed of four 15 year old girls, is very adamant towards this subject. These chemicals can be carcinogenic and disruptive of the endocrine system, yet people use them everyday. If one washes their hair with commonly bought shampoo, the chances of them being exposed to some of these chemicals is practically 100%. Therefore, men and children who do not typically make a habit of wearing makeup are at risk as well as women who may or may not put makeup on everyday. Although the situation is serious, not many people are informed of it. Our website will hopefully help more and more people be aware of this present situation. This isn't simply a local issue--believe it or not, it is a forsaken global issue.
