Ask a Teenager

So what do teenagers feel on the subject of Nanotechnology? We asked a few to find out:

15 Year old female, Wales, UK
"Little robots come to mind, that do little annoying jobs like hoovering or washing up."

14 Year old Male
"Nano technology makes me think of technology that is put into small packages.. like the iPod Nanos and mp3 players and stuff."

15 Year old Female
"I've heard of nanotechnology, but dont know anything about it."

16 Year old Male, Worcester, UK
"They could be good. Well....it depends on how we use them e.g whether we use them for war or for peace space travel or global warming solving It is a tough choice what you use nanobots for, but we need to be careful."

17 Year Old
"Hmmmm, don't really know :/ what are they?

oooo aren't they in that old tv show jake 2.0 or something?"

What Does This Tell us?
So we can see from this that the public has quite a mixed view on what Nanotechnology is, if they know about it at all. But why is that?

Its not a topic which is commonly talked about in schools, it may be covered briefly, but that's it. So where do the opinions come from? This comes from the press, which is why what they write can
