This fantastic website was brought to you by a team of 16 and 17 year olds from Worcestershire, UK. it was created as part of the Thinkquest competition as run by Oracle.
The team went under the name Maiden and produced one of the first competition entries to come out of the UK. After much discussion we decide our topic would need to be modern, relevant and slightly controversial which is why we decided on Nanotechnology.
Our team used Virtual Workspace as a basis for our discussion and swapping ideas. We all chose an area to investigate and write for and as the deadline loomed we slowly bought all our content together and put it into a nicely rounded website.
You can read more about our team collaboration and global perspectives here.
Without further-a-do lets introduce the team members:
Lee
I'm Lee. I live just outside Worcester and go to Worcester Sixth Form College where I study further maths, computing & accounting. I have a large interest in computers, in particular website design which is why I wanted to get involved with the Thinkquest project. The nanotechnology theme also fitted in with my interests in technology
Martin
I'm Martin, I live in Worcester and go to Christopher Whitehead Language College. I'm Interested in computers, specifically Artificial Intelligence; however I have a general interest in technology - hence the website and the nanotechnology topic.
I also animate short films using flash8.
Louisa
I'm Louisa, I live in Worcester and I'm in my last year at Nunnery Wood High School. I'm studying for high grades to get into college. I spend most of my time on my computer making animations, images and using CSS to create websites. I was asked to join the team, and Ii find a high amount of interest in nanotechnology, so it was a good idea to join the team. Hopefully the graphics i make will be useful in explaining nanotechnology in the site.
John
Yo! I'm John. I live within the quaint little village of Kidderminster, where I be studying A level maths, physics, chemistry and biology and from that i think you can work out that I like technology, esp. the unusual like anti-mass and useless gadgetry :p website design is a hobby to me, and having sound knowledge of coding and the topic we are currently working on is one of the reasons I joined the Thinkquest competition.
David
I was first introduced to a programming language on a Commodore Amiga when I was about 8. I've dabbled in a few basic languages (including TI-Basic, the onboard language used by Texas Ti-series calculators). I have had a little dabble in HTML (but I am still not very good). I also play Dungeons and Dragons and a board game called Warhammer 40,000. I study Maths, Physics and Chemistry at Baxter College in Kidderminster and I intend to go to university afterwards.
We would also like to thank our coach James. He helped guide us, gave us ideas and kept the project on track where at times we may have lost it. Thanks James!
