Rushing through each day of our lives, we often stop and ponder, and ask ourselves what exactly are we up to? Who or what is driving our thought and actions? What truly is logic? Who decides reason? What is understanding all about? All this and much more make us want to achieve more and more to quench our never ending quest of knowledge. And the mean to achieve it is by using our gifted intelligence. It is a very dynamic concept, perhaps as amusing and complex as life itself, but it is the one thing that has helped us shape our history, our present and it will continue to do so in the future as well.

But, gradually, as the human mind open ups and advances with ever increasing knowledge and intelligence, there will be a need to infuse intelligence in our surroundings as well, to make us more at home, to help us in every-which-way. Intelligence is not just thinking on an independent platform, it is our means to create that platform which gives us a wider perspective on things we are yet to understand.

Here, a very important question arises in front of us. This question has shaken the very foundations of AI, making us contemplate our decisions that have influenced our progress. The question, even today remains the same. Can an inanimate, a lifeless object think for itself? Will man ever give birth to a singular consciousness that will be in some sense be more human than humans itself? Will we ever create programs that will not rely on us, that can reason, understand common sense and quantum logic with equal ease? The answer, it seems is not one of surety at this point of development. As somebody rightly said, the only way to see the future, is to live it. AI is the way of the future, here to alter our present. We will never know for sure, until we see it, create it. But the fact remains, that true AI, whenever, however achieved, will make everything around us very different , very presently futuristic, so very, real, rather surreal.
