Myths

Pirate Pets-
Most likely taken from the story Treasure Island, Parots have been the stereotypical pirates pet of choice. In accuallity there is a great deal of debate about pirates having pets. Most assume that pirates would be too busy to have pets, and to deal with the daily up keep. Many also bring up the point that they would most likely be eatten during long voyages.

Peg Legs and Pirate Hooks-
This myth most likely came from the injuried pirates, many would take things, like a chair leg, or random piece of wood to use as a temporay limb replacement during a voyage. The Idea of a Hook, probley came the from the story of Peter Pan, yet it may have been neccesary to replace and injuried hand from time to time, and when misfortune befell you may have wanted something useful like a hook to replace your missing limb.
