THE HAUNTED HOME - YESTER CASTLE

DON'T WANDER AFTER DARK....

Yester Castle
It was a dark and misty night and a man was out walking. He saw a building up ahead. Maybe this was the castle he'd seen on the map. As he peered through the mist he saw a figure moving towards him - almost gliding over the muddy ground.
It was a hooded man (or woman) and although he didn't know it, the figure moving towards him was a wizard! The man has realised by this time that the mystery figure's intentions were evil! This man was a tourist from another country and he was travelling alone. That was why no one noticed he had gone missing for a very long time. The precise cause of the mans death is unknown although when his body was found thoughrly tortured in many ways which we can only guess. There were also many internal injuries with no sign of how they were done from the external parts of the body. It would have been impossible for any normal human being to inflict this type of injury. It was said he must have had some new type of disease but there are some things science cannot explain.......
(This is not based on a true story. It is, however, based on many true stories and true facts put together.)

THE FACTS
Yester Castle from a distance.
Yester Castle is situated several miles south of the small village of Gifford. It lies where the Hopes waters meet with a small burn (stream). The only remaining part of the castle is the dungeon, which was built underground. It is said to have been raised by magic by Sir Hugo the wizard. He employed fairy and goblin workers to help him build the chamber known as " The Goblin Ha' ". It is thirty-seven feet long, thirteen feet broad and nineteen feet high. It helped support the huge castle that lay on top of it for many years. It was taken illegally by the English, which the Scott's were not happy about. The Scottish stormed the castle, regained control of it and then cast it down to the ground so that the English could not take control of it again.

The Goblin Ha' is the original underground hall where Sir Hugo practised his magic. The chamber is said to be built by fairies and goblins but who knows what else Sir Hugo used the poor workers for. Nobody really knows what Sir Hugo did but he will have contacted the devil in many different ways, some of them may have used sacrifice and of course Sir Hugo had his own problems like the cursing of a pear to keep his daughter's wedding safe. But if you happen to come across the ghost of Sir Hugo, you should .......... RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
