The Witch Stone
The Witch Stone lies near Dunbar around Spott and is known for being near the spot where the witch Marion Lillie was burned.
( see large image )
As well as its close association with witches, many strange things have happened near it. When a family went to see the stone, two gold coins had been placed on the top. No one knows why, but its surely no coincidence that they found the coins there at Halloween! In 2002 a walker found incence and candle wax on the stone, adding to the strange history surrounding it. Maybe witchery still lurks in East Lothian......

King James and the Witches
It was a cold bitter night, and windy too. A group of some 200 witches had gathered around one of North Berwick's churches. They were all chanting a spell - their purpose was to sink a ship that was just arriving in North Berwick. The King: James V1 was in it and the Witches, because of a burning hate for the king, wished to kill him.
Surprisingly a storm seemed to brew and the ship in question keeled over into the sea, the waves crashing over the wrekkage......Luckily for the King, the ship that the Witches had tried to sink was not infact the king's ship. The king reached port safely, the Witches had failed.
There is more to come, so just wait a little longer...
