The Coastal
Taipan is # 4 on our
most deadly list. The coastal Taipan is approximately 2 meters
long and can be found along the coast of This snake has the longest fangs of any Australian snake, and its venom is very poisonous. It is very strong and aggressive when provoked, and it can bite its victim several times. Its sides and tail are varieties of reddish brown, dark brown, blackish brown and yellowish, but the colors fade as they go down the sides. The Taipan
likes to hide under fallen logs or in roots of trees, and it prefers to
eat mice and rats (rodents). It
will also eat birds and
bandicoots.
They are very fast
strikers, and are usually actively hunting in the middle of the
morning. Male Taipans are
usually larger than the female. They
will most often hide to avoid meeting humans and large predators. |
