At every cremony or family reunion, the only things that will keep children quiet are: soda pop or juice. Althoughit may taste good and the label might say that it is good for the children, it is only good to an extent.

replacing milk with soda causes osteoporosis, and drinking too much juice can cause diarrhea, cavities in the teeth, malnutrition, and a bad habit of drinking when they grow older.

What parents should do:

  • Juice should not be given to babies before they are six months old
  • when they are six months old, mothers should still breastfeed and use fortified formula instead of juice.
  • Breast milk, formula and solid foods provide the nutrients needed from the age of six months to one year
  • Cildren from the ages of 1 to 6 should only drink 6 ounces at most of 100% milk each day.(Xiong).
