When the gardening was done, which was usually by sunset, the Hmong people had to walk miles just to get back home. This was the daily schedule of the Hmong people. Their diets consisted of rice, fruits/vegetables and on rare occasions, meat. Because of this style of living, they were able to stay fit and they were constantly active. But since moving here in the United States, their way of living had drastically changed. (Xiong) |
Obtaining some real meat for dinner was difficult, but here in the U.S., getting some red meat is just a quick drive to the nearest supermarket (Xiong).

Since most Hmong parents are against medical treatment, when elders get sick, there are daily quarrels of whether or not to take them to the hospital. | | Because of these problems, obesity had come into the Hmong cultures as quick as the plague infecting the Europeans (Xiong).
