Dear Barbara Boxer,

I am a student of Upward Bound.  I have been a part of Upward Bound for 3 years.  Upward Bound has played a big part ofmy life.  Upward Bound has helpedme understand how important it is to go to college.  Upward Bound is my motivation for entering college.

I am writing to you today because I feel you care for oureducation.  For that reason I feelyou can help save TRIO Upward Bound Projects. Upward Bound is not only a bigpart of my life but I know for a fact that it is also a big part of otherstudents lives. That is why I am deeply concerned with the situation thatUpward Bound is in. I know that President Bush wants to cut funding for theTRIO Upward Bound Projects. So I plead to you for help to vote not on decreaseof funding for Upward Bound.

I feel that Upward Bound can not only help me go to collegebut it can as well help my siblings and other students go on the right path tocollege.  Every time I talk to myparents and my sibling and friends about Upward Bound they are impressed aboutit and say that, that is a wonderful program and that it is a shame that Bushwants to cut the funding.

I know that for various reasons my parents did not exceed ahigher education other than elementary or junior high, and I know that theyhave always persuaded us to exceed a higher education other then highschool.  But because of theeconomic situation and family needs they have no time to help us through theright path to college. I ask for you to vote no on the proposal for eliminationfunds to the TRIO Upward Bound Projects.

Sincerely,

Student (J.R)
