Opening Weekend

            Opening Weekend is the week where students get to make new friends and for some to regroup with old friends. Nobody knows anyone, but they all know that they are family that will be there for each other through anything. People showed up not wanting to be here, but now they don’t want to leave the friends they have come to know so well.

            Amongst the many things done, there was: Taking the ACT Test, having fun at Rosedale Elementary School, introducing each other to new people. Many would think that all of what was done on the weekend was pointless but come to figure out that there is a purpose behind everything and don't regret spending time which will help them in the future.

            To participants in the Upward Bound program this is not just summer school at a college; whereas it is an experience that will stay with them forever along with the friends that they have made.
