Haiku and Stress
Haiku and Stress | What is Haiku? | Haiku's History
Won't you come and see
loneliness? Just one leaf
from the kiri tree.
Basho, Matsuo (1644-1694)
Haikus give people a piece of mind and can be written anywhere without being noticed. They are not only highly educational, they also give you sometime to figure out what it really wants to convey, thus giving you temporary relief of whatever stress you have. When you are writing a haiku, you need patience and also concentrate really much, which also gives you a temporary break from stress. In addition, writing a haiku can help you express your feelings, you can write anything in it: your hate towards the local bully, your sorrow when your favourite horse died etc. You might not like the tell others about your feelings, so just grab a piece of paper and start scribbling!
