Now that you have visited our website and learned about what others are doing to improve their world, we hope you are inspired to do something yourself to make the world a better place. Don't be intimidated by how this may sound; you can make a difference without having to even leave the city you live. Here are several suggestions for how you can affect the world, both at home and away from home:

Follow current events in the news

  1. Be a pen pal to a student in Norway
  2. Donate to the Hurricane Katrina fund
  3. Cheer for Latvia in the Olympics
  4. Sit with somebody new at lunch
  5. Drop some coins in the Salvation Army red bucket
  6. Be a part of the student government at your school
  7. Befriend the foreign exchange student in your class
  8. Join a speech club or Toastmasters
  9. Spend your Spring Break helping out an orphanage in Mexico
  10. Participate in Model UN
  11. Be an exchange student to learn about world cultures that are different from your own.
  12. Donate to the tsunami relief effort
  13. Join the debate team
  14. Take that world geography course as an extra elective instead of study hall.
  15. Register to vote and go out and vote--even in the local elections.
  16. Sponsor a child with Compassion, Christian Children's Fund, or World Vision.
  17. Learn a foreign language.
  18. Join the Peace Corps
  19. Host a foreign exchange student from Russia.
  20. Participate in a UNICEF Trick or Treat
