Here are some safety tips that anyone and everyone can use in their everyday lives in the car:
- Make sure ALL passengers are properly seated and are wearing seat belts before driving away.
- Make sure that all children are properly seated in the correct child car seat.
- Do not place babies in front seat of car.
- Make sure front seat passengers are of the correct size (in case of accidents and air bags inflate).
- Be alert and prepared for sudden stops.
- Do not drive if emotionally distracted or tired.
- Stay out of blind spots of cars, especially large vehicles ( which have larger blind spots) such as buses, trucks, moving vans, etc.
- Watch what the vehicles ahead of you are doing.
- If your car breaks down pull easily off the road, where the car can be scene from all directions, and use the flashers.
- Make sure all blinkers, headlights, and break lights are in proper working order.
- If you cannot safely drive home use public transportation, use a designated drive, or call a taxi.
- Wait AT LEAST one hour before driving a car after a drink. Make sure that you can safely drive home.
- Make sure to assign a designated driver, that will either not drink at all, or limit their drinks to 1 to 2 (depending on how long they will be there).
