Introduction Venus, the second planet from the Sun, is known as the jewel of the sky. This morning and evening star can be seen quite well from the Earth. The Romans named this planet after the goddess of love and beauty. It's known to be the most similar planet to Earth in measures of size, mass, density, and volume; however, their physical features are very different. Venus is known as the hottest planet in our solar system. Many people think that Mercury is hotter because it is closer to the Sun, but Venus' atmosphere contains high amounts of carbon dioxide which makes the atmosphere very dense. At first, heat comes through the atmosphere, but when it hits Venus' surface and tries to radiate back out into space, the heat gets trapped by this atmosphere which forces it to stay on the planet.
