• REACHING OUT •
Our first and foremost duty is to spread awareness about the natural disasters so that we can reduce the impact of these disasters. Having equipped our school-mates to deal with disasters effectively, we realized we had to not just reinforce the message but also spread it in other parts of the World. We thus devised creative methods like skits, street-plays, workshops and drills, websites, multimedia presentations and Quality Circles case-studies.
We have even published articles in school magazines and local news-papers to reach out to students, their families and friends. Street Plays helped us in communicating our message to all sections of society. Also students witnessed and participated in the skits in assemblies with a lot of enthusiasm and even carried the message home. Many a times we conducted drills in which the students had to escape from certain crises.
We also created many websites such as this one to spread awareness, taking the help of the international network [internet]. In classes, many students created multimedia presentations on disaster management.
A major milestone was achieved when students of our school prepared a case-study on ‘Crucial Moments: Disaster Management’ and presented in at the ‘International Convention on Students Quality Control Circle’. Their effort not just won them appreciation, but also the prestigious Deming Award. The message, no doubt, reached people in different parts of the globe.
Impressed by the good response, we conducted many quizzes, games and other competitions. Circulars were sent for parents to ensure that disaster-management does not remain a dormant practice but becomes a way of life.
As you go through our site, you have become a part of the Pal Chhin Movement: an endeavor to prepare for the future that would allow us to better face the trying ‘moments of life’. We hope you too would spread the message in your homes, schools work places and local communities.
