•Catastrophe- an event causing great damage or suffering.
•Combustion- rapid chemical combination with oxygen, involving the production of heat and light.
•Contingency- a future event or circumstance which is possible but cannot be predicted with certainty.
•Dehydrate- to lose a large amount of water from ones body.
•Demography- the study of the structure of human populations using statistics of births, deaths, wealth, disease, etc.
•Depression- a sunken place or hollow.
•Downpour- a heavy fall of rain.
•Epicentre- the point on the earth’s surface vertically above the focus of an earthquake.
•Epidemic- a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease in a community at a particular time.
•Evacuate- remove from a place of danger to a safer place.
•Flash flood- a sudden local flood resulting from extreme rainfall.
•Global warming- the gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth’s atmosphere due to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, CFCs, and other pollutants.

•Management- the process of managing.
•Manifestation- the materialization of the god.
•Marine- relating to the sea.
•Omen- an event regarded as a sign of future good fortune or evil.
•Orientation- a person’s attitude or inclination.
•Oxidize- cause to undergo a reaction in which electrons are lost to another substance or molecule.
•Paradox- a seemingly absurd or self-contradictory statement or proposition that may in fact be true.
•Precipitation- rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls to or condenses on the ground.
•Psyche- meaning soul or spirit.
•Radiation- energy emitted as electromagnetic waves or subatomic particles.
•Rehabilitate- restore to health or normal life by training and therapy after imprisonment, addiction, or illness.
•Relief- financial or practical assistance given to those in special need or difficulty.
•Riverine- relating to or situated on a river or riverbank.
•Suburb- an outlying residential district of a city.
•Susceptible- likely to be influenced or harmed by a particular thing.
•Technique- a way of carrying out a particular task, especially the execution of an artistic work or a scientific procedure.
•Tremor- an involuntary quivering movement.
•Tropical Storm- a localized, very intense low-pressure wind system with winds of hurricane force, forming over tropical oceans.
•Vacuum- a space from which the air has been completely or partly removed.
