     Shaun White became the first athlete to compete in both the winter and summer X-games. He dominated in snowboarding and skateboarding and beat many pro-skaters. He attempted to gain entry in the 2002 Olympics but came up .3 of a point short in the qualifying rounds. In 2006, however, he proved himself worthy by winning the five-event Grand prix. Once in Torino, White did not automatically advance to the final but in his second run, where he was the last to go; White blew away the competition and became 6th qualifier. In the final, White earned a 46.8 that no one could top, and walked away with the gold medal in his pocket.
