We got interested in making a website about our community's history after we learned about Commandant Richard Somers, a naval hero and the grandson of our first settler. We REALLY liked visiting Morrow Beach to see the War of 1812 Monument and Ships Channel in the Great Egg Harbor Bay. After doing research for our Venture class, we realized our town's history wasn't on the Internet as much as we expected. We plan to keep adding to our SomersPedia glossary of facts in history that connect from local to world history. We also plan to visit the 4th grade classes in our school district to show them how to use our website. Let's hope it will make their job of studying New Jersey history more fun!!

Some of our team members are 12 years old but we decided to stick together as a team even though it means competiting on the tougher 13 and above category in the Thinkquest competition. We divided the work this way:

Trevor: Template design, Nick: Facts research and design consultant, Kyle: Games, and Eric: Folklore. We all worked on interviews, citations and the About Us page.
