We started by working a clay model of the H5N1 virus. This helped us inderstand how it helped the transport and the delivery of the virus's genetic material.

About Our Team:

A Global Perspective on Avian Flu:

Our team is from Australia, United States, and Vietnam. We are not only from different countries but different cultures as well. It is because of our diversity we were able to gain the insight and perspective of every continent. Tran was able to keep us updated on and wrote about the progress Vietnam is making towards controlling the Avian Flu. Annie kept us abreast of the happenings in Australia. Andrew and William have relatives in Thailand and the Philippines who sent us their news on the situation. Adonios has relatives in Greece who sent us the information from Europe. Mrs. Papanikolau teaches English to students who come to the US from all over the world. This year she is working with many students from Africa and South America. Even though they are young, the difficulties Africa has in fighting such a pandemic was very obvious through the eyes of the students. All of these people to people conversations contributed to our perspective when we work on the web site.

Here William is working on animations, Chelsea is drawing up a new picture, and Andrew is overseeing to see we get it right, seeing as he is the writer for the technical stuff.

Collaboration:

Since our team is from all over the world, it was impossible for the whole team to meet, so we collaborated through an online forum. Most of the work was done through this forum. The forum kept us all informed of our responsibilities, latest development/research and allowed us to “talk” to each other even though we were far away. It really helped all of us give feedback to each others' writing and ideas. It was an invaluable tool.
