Fibonacci Sequence

1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21...

For any value than 3 in the sequence, the ratio between any two consecutive number is 1 : 1.618, or the Golden Ratio.

The Fibonacci sequence can be seen in nature. An example is that the sunflower has 21 spirals on its head in one direction and 34 going in the other - consecutive Fibonacci numbers. The outside of a pinecone has spirals that run clockwise and counterclockwise and the ratio of the number of spirals are Fibonacci values.

Fibonacci was born in Pisa, Italy in 1170. He was educated in Bugia, North Africa. Fibonacci was most likely influenced and maybe even tutored by Arab mathematicians. He wrote many texts and made some very important discoveries. Fibonacci died in 1250.
