The Da Vinci Code was written by the best-selling author, Dan Brown. The book itself has sold over nine million copies, a smash-hit in the written world. But why did so many people pick up this book? In this day and age, reading has been pushed to the back burner as a way of entertainment.

Dan Brown was able to create something so wonderful that it spurred a movement worldwide to pick a book and read. Quite a shocker, right? What else made this book so special? Why was the Vatican in an outrage about this book? Why have thousands of websites been made to either bash or praise his work?

He was able to pull out a theory that most consider heretical and blasphemous. This theory came out of an almost everyday thing, Christianity. Christianity is something that so many people know about, think about how many churches you have in your town. But, Dan Brown took something so well-known and brought out a side that most people have never heard about and a theory that isn't so well-known.

The history of the Christians is one of blood and terror. It wasn't a peaceful religion that wanted kindness and love, it wanted to provoke fear and terror into it's victims. Victims, some claim up to 200,000 victims. Women and children were burned at the stake for their former beliefs. During this time, some refer to as "The Burning Times", or the "Witch-hunts", were one of the most terrifying times in our history. Many of the midwives and healers were killed for their knowledge.

To understand Christianity, you have to know their history. Dan Brown dug deep into their history and also pulled out some of the more far-fetched ideas that many hold true.

He spoke of Mary Magdalene being Jesus's wife. This idea caused a wave of anger through the Christian world. This idea was, of course, wrong!

We're going to go through some of the ideas that Dan Brown put into his book and pick out the fact from fiction. Ready?
