What is Runoff?
- Water that is evaporated before it hits the ground.
- Water that doesn't soak into the ground or evaporate but instead flow's across Earth's surface.
- A 100 meter foot race, that is held in the olympics when two people tie.
- Water that isn't soaked up but instead is evaporated before it roams Earth's surface.
Rill Erosion begins when....
- a rill channel becomes broader and deeper.
- a small stream is formed during a long drought.
- Rill erosion isn't a type of erosion....
- a heavy rain falls and a small stream is formed.
Drainage Basins can be compared to....
- a bathtub.
- a long winding gully.
- nothing....drainage basins are one of a kind.
- almost anything deep and circular.
An Adolescent Stream....
- flows less swiftly through its valley.
- flows swiftly through a steep valley
- doesn't exist, it's actually called a mature stream.
- has trouble flowing because of jutting out rocks on side of valley walls.
How Deep Can Groundwater Go Into Earth's Crust?
- It's called groundwater because it's water that is on the ground, obviously it doesn't go into the Earth.
- Groundwater only goes two layers deep because of the heat.
- Groundwater can only go approximately 80 feet deep.
- Groundwater contiues to go into the Earth until it reaches a layer of impermeable rock.
Springs Are Found In Places Where....
- the water table is exposed at the surface.
- more water is taken out of the ground than rain can replace.
- there is pressurized water that eventually flows to the surface.
- groundwater is heated to high temperatures, causing the area to expand.
If Underground Rock is Dissolved Near the Surface a _________ Might Form.
- Geyser
- Sandstone barrier
- Sinkhole
- Area of acidic groundwater
At the Outer Edges of a River System You Find
- Whitewater streams moving swiftly
- Old streams
- Mature streams
- Rills
What is the Difference Between a Delta and an Alluvial Fan?
- Alluvial fans have water deposits from mountain valleys and deltas have water that is from streams or rivers that slow down.
- Aluvial fans form when a river or stream slows down and deltas form on the top of mountian ranges.
- Deltas and alluvial fans are the same thing.
- Deltas are not formed frequently where alluvial fans are formed nearly everday due to currents.
What Causes Longshore Currents?
- Waves that are full of sediments.
- When fast-moving channesl of deep water slows down along a shores.
- Waves banging against rocks along the shore.
- Waves colliding with the shore at slight angles.
