About Us

Hi! My name is Tiffany and I am 10 and in 5th grade. I have 2 brothers.
My role in this website is graphics, animation, web design, and editing.
I like reading, dancing (ballet), singing, playing piano, playing flute,
tennis, drawing things on flash, and playing computer games (Total
Annihalation and Sims 2). My favorite food is fruit. My favorite author
is Laura Ingalls Wilder but strangely my favorite bookis Little Women
(the long version). My favorite subjects are Science and Math.
In the summer I was thinking about what topic to do. We had a lot
of topics before we came up with this one. They were Mixed Connective
Tissue Disease, West Nile Virus, and Encephalitis. When it was summer
I was always bitten by mosquitoes. I’m allergic to mosquito bites. So
you say everyone’s allergic to mosquito bites. I’m more, if I get 2
mosquito bites my whole arm swells up and stings. When I was in the
Philippines to be a flower girl in a wedding I was a swollen flower girl.
I had 20 mosquito bites every day! My aunt in Thailand also died of
a mosquito borne disease. So I decided to do mosquitoes.
Some of the drawings I drew and Tejas and Sunny colored them and
some of them I drew by myself and the rest of them Victoria and
Thomas drew. On the writing Thomas, Victoria, and Arun did a really
good job. Everyone did what they did best and everything turned out
awsome.
A lot of the things that I had to do on this website were things I
didn’t know how to do so I learned at least 1 new thing every day in
the summer. Animations took a long time and sometimes it frustrated
me a lot. The pictures were hard too. You can never get it exactly as
you want it. First I drew the rough picture then I kept editing and
editing and editing. Still, I couldn’t get it exactly right.
When I was researching I learned that millions of children and
animals die from these diseases. These diseases are especially
prominent in Africa. I hope people who visit this site will
become aware of these diseases and try to help those people in
need. I enjoyed making this site and I hope you’ll enjoy visiting it.
Of course there were some sad parts about it but I’m glad there
are so many organizations trying to help and raise awareness.
I would also like to thank Ngoc Tran for giving me inspiration,
advice, and for giving me the picture of the Vietnamese dengue
poster.
While I was reading about artemsisia I was thinking whether it
could be genetically modified to be able to grow easily and
plentifully all over Africa.

Hello! I'm Sigit Adinugroho, 20 and I serve as the Assistant Coach for
this team. I am from Bandung, Indonesia; a city 150km southeast
from the capital, Jakarta. I study Visual Communication Design in
Institut Teknologi Bandung, currently in my third year.
It's been wonderful to work with a team of enthusiastic kids from
the other part of the world and to find out how independent and
capable they are. It's my first time coaching since I had always been
a student in ThinkQuest, and also my first time enrolling in the 12
and Under category. It has its own challenges, I never thought that
working with younger kids would be so interesting. There's a
difference in working with older group of kids and these younger
ones. There's more mix of fun and work here, you learn to see
things through kid's eyes and there's the wonder when they
exceed your expectation. These kids collaborated together from
concept to writing and designing the final product.
And as of my role, I help with checking and suggesting on technical
matters - how to build web pages, Flash, and final evaluation - but
that's not something much to worry about since I give my full trust
to this team and it proved well.
