South America   

South America is essentially a conglomerate of former Spanish and Portuguese colonies. While its nations have achieved independence from imperialism, much of the area has been controlled by foreign governments, such as the United States and England .  

These nations tend in general to have mainly agricultural and export economies, with many citizens employed in subsistence farming or removal of such natural resources as oil and produce.  

While factories exist in these nations and produce a significant output, their presence is not usually thought to constitute an industrial revolution because they were built as necessary to support an existing economy, and did not really transform the lives of most people in the area directly.
