Causes

The first Industrial Revolution, in England, occured due to several interlinked factors. Since this revolution was the first, the revolution was more spontaneous than others that occured around the world - it was not forced due to competition or war.

It was spurred, instead, by factors which include colonialism, economic changes, innovations, political stability, the printing press, the agricultural revolution, and the enclosure movement. To learn more about these factors, use the menu on the left.
