Child Care Centres

Locations of Child Care Centres

Child care centres are well spread across the island. With over 600 child care centres across the island, they can easily be found at the void decks of high-rise flats. This is so as to reduce the transportation times that parents would have to spend sending their children to the child care centres.

The high accessibility also increases the popularity of the child care centre and encourages parents to send their children for child care services.

Activities in Child Care Centres

Child care centres hold different activities for children of different age group. This is so as to cater to their different needs as older children may not want to participate in the same activity as the younger children. Children in different age groups would find joy in different activities. Hence, different activities would be held for different children.

Older children who are already attending lower primary education are generally given a less structured programme. More time would be allocated for study and free time. Study time has to be allocated to the children so as to provide them with a fixed period of time for revision of schoolwork and completion of homework.

Younger children, on the other hand, would usually have a more fun-filled programme planned for them. They would usually follow a curriculum that is similar to the kindergartens as both are after all pre-school centres offering services for children of the same age group.

Therefore, child care centres for the young children would usually teach the children about basics of language and counting. Although there is no standardized curriculum for child care centres, child care centres would generally provide these lessons so as to become more attractive, increasing their enrollment.

In addition, child care centres would develop the child’s social skills through interaction with other children. Children in the child care centres would often make good friends in their years of child care as they spend a large amount of time in the centres. These social skills are again, important in their future lives.

Conclusion

Child care centres are centres that provide child care for children whose parents are busy. They are an excellent solution to the woes of the busy working class with children. The child care service could be said to be in line with our Government’s encouragement of raising fertility rates, for it would reduce the worries that would-be parents have of being unable to care for their children due to their busy working schedules.

Child care centres, although not officially education centres, provide excellent environments for the young’s learning. The value-added child care service would indeed be a great help to parents who have difficulty caring for and educating their young ones.
