Welcome to the origin page. Fire ants were accidentally transported to the Port of Mobile, Alabama from Argentina in the 1930s. They where transported on freight ships. They started to spread very soon until they took up over 52 acres of the US. They found the first colony in 1942. A boy who was thirteen named Ed Wilson found one of the mounds. While he was going to college, he kept studying them. They spread very fast while he studied them and now they take up a lot of space in the US. Now, they have killed over 60 human beings with their way of not letting the human know that they are on them until they have bitten them in several places. They will probably end up killing more. They now live mostly live in the south of the US .
