The Different Body Parts Of an Ant

I know you have wondered what the different body parts are of an ant are.

Well, now you are going to learn. There are three parts: The head , thorax (A.K.A trunk), and the abdomen . (A.K.A Metosoma. ) The head has jaws , antennas , two simple eyes and two compound eyes . The compound eyes have tiny lenses close together. These lenses help them see movements easily, and see things near clearly. The simple eyes can only recognize light from dark. Some special ants can have three simple eyes! Some may have no eyes at all! The 6 legs are attached to the thorax. The abdomen includes the stomach . At the end of the abdomen, a stinger is attached, which they use as defense. They also may use their jaws to bite as well. Ants have no ears, but they have chordotonal organs , which are located on their antenna, legs, head, and thorax. They hear when they feel vibration in these areas. Its heart is actually a long tube going through its body. Ants have no lungs, either. They have air tubes that are spread out in many places in its body. Oxygen comes in small openings in its body it might have. There are lots of body parts in just one ant.
