Haft seen
Iranians have many fests. The most important one of all for them is Norooz. To begin Norooz, Iranians put 7 things on the table cloth that begin with the letter (S) in Persian language, Like:
  1. Garlic (Sir)
  2. Sumac (Somagh)
  3. Apple (Sib)
  4. Bungled work (Sombol)
  5. Vinegar (Serkeh)
  6. Coin (Sekeh)
  7. And especially green grass (Sabzeh).
That is why this table is called Haftseen (Seven "S"). Norooz begins in the first day of Farvardin (20th March) that is when the spring begins and when the year begins in Iran.
