- The capital city of Ecuador is Quito. Quito is a city with a population of 1.2 million people. The highest active volcano, Cotopaxi, is found in the city of Quito. Cotopaxi is the second highest volcano in Ecuador. The monument seen above is known as the "Mitad del Mundo" or "Half of the World" monument. It is called "Mitad del Mundo" because it marks one of the points where the equator goes through the country. This monument was built between 1979 and 1982 and is made up of iron and cement and also with a volcanic rock called "Andesite".

- The city of Guayaquil in Ecuador is considered one of the important cities in the country. Guayaquil is the most populous city and the country's major seaport is located here. The majority of the people in Guayaquil consider themselves Catholic. There is a cathedral in this city called San Pedro that is considered as the motherchurch of to the catholicas living in the city.
