Issues of International District

International District has many issues but one of the main issues today and back then in the past is public safety. Things haven’t really changed as term of safety. Back in the old International District, there was illegal gambling going on, and people paid cops to say that they didn’t see anything. There was drug and prostitution dealing also going on now and before.

The difference between before and now is that the crime rate went up. So now it’s worst now than before. The International District made a lot of changes but some issues just tend to stay the same it seems to be a big problem. For example, there are teenagers that mug old people in the International District. The old people get scared and that’s the reason why they don’t go out at night.

There are always a lot of homeless people on the streets and that is a big problem because they are pretty much everywhere around the International District. They are in parks and parking lots. People can’t even go to a park in the International District without seeing a bum. There are even signs that are put up that say no bums on the streets from 7 pm to 6 am. But they are still out there and it just frightens people at night to go out like seniors. The only people that are out at night in International District is young teenagers.

From past to present, no one still has taken action on pubic safety. The International District needs more advanced technology so that they can monitor the place. At this rate, the International District is going to get worst because as years go by, the crime rate seems to go up.
