Historical Significance
The Fantastic Four represents the fight between European feudalism and the American democracy. Victor von Doom symbolizes the European tyrant who wants to keep the political power to the aristocrats while the Fantastic Four fight for justice and equality against an oppressive and powerful ruler.
This cartoon also represents the good and the bad side of science. Reed Richards is an inventive and creative man who tries to help mankind. For example, Reed Richards tried to develop a machine that would reverse the effect of the plasmic ray that mutated the Fantastic Four’s genes in order to give Ben a normal lifestyle. Victor, who is also very intelligent, tries to develop machines that would give him an advantage and aid him in his quest to take over the country.
