About us!

Rebecca and Hillary worked together in the research of the subject matter. They went through the material normally covered in beginning Music Theory classes to AP Music Theory classes in the United States. Rebecca was taking AP Music Theory in her school at the time of research and so was able to incorporate much knowledge to the project. Hillary had taken two years of Music Theory at a local university's precollege program and was able to help collaborate the information that she and Rebecca gathered into an organized form. Stephen was the group's webmaster and created the general form of the site. He manifested design of the site and produced the finished presentation of the information. Our group had many difficulties in getting together because of scheduling issues. We were never able to get together at any time of the day but we used technology and the Internet to overcome this problem. Rebecca and Hillary communicated over the Internet and each sent her research to the other for checking and double checking. They then sent the completed research in organized form to Stephen, who formatted the information and integrated it into his web design. Stephen then created the various learning activities that were used in the site. He used his knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript to add to the aesthetic and educational aspects of the website. We were able to work well together despite initial difficulties and have enjoyed the process immensely.

Stephen is a classically trained pianist and saxophonist, and also plays the flute and the guitar. He has taken music lessons since he was five years old. Hillary is a classical violinist, violist and pianist. She has been a musician for 12 years. Rebecca is also a violinist, violist, and pianist and has also taken lessons for most of her life. Our group is diverse in that Stephen is mainly a band player, while Rebecca and Hillary are mainly orchestral players. There are vast differences between our different instruments, including differences in techniques and functions. Our group is very diverse in its nationalities. Hillary was born in Taiwan, and has a rich Taiwanese heritage. Rebecca was born on Long Island, but has a Chinese ancestry. Stephen was born in Texas, and has a mixed ancestry of German, British and many other European countries. Despite our differences, we came together to put together this website.
