Shoe Anatomy 

Toebox: The area in the front of the shoe, where your toes are
 
Vamp: This is the area of the shoe where the laces are found. Lacing pattern affect the shoe’s fit.  For people with narrow feet, there is a different way to lace your sneakers, so that your heal does not slip in the back.
   
Insole: The bottom inside of the shoe that is in direct contact with the foot.  The insoles of sneakers usually wear out before the rest of the sneaker. 

Outsole: This is the part of the sneaker which touches the ground.  This is where the sneaker’s traction is located.

Midsole: The midsole is between insole and outsole. This is the most important part of a sneaker, because it is where the sneaker’s cushioning and stability are located.   

Heel Counter:  Stabilizes the heel by decreasing over and under pronation of the foot. 

Upper:
This is the top of the sneaker and contains the sneaker’s colors and the company’s logo.
